During the holidays keeping a positive attitude about weight loss can be difficult. When you are tempted by the holiday goodies, by keeping a positive attitude about your weight loss you can stay on track with your goals. There are a few ways that you can maintain your weight loss during the holidays and here are a few that have worked for me.

Here are the five easy ways to do it:

1. Less Holiday Stress: Stress can cause hormones in your body, such as cortisol to be released. An elevated cortisol level can cause your appetite to increase which will lead you to eat more.

Try this: Be a little easier on yourself. Set priorities and learn to say NO – put yourself first sometimes. Treat yourself to time alone or doing something you like. You can go for a brisk walk, meditate or do anything that helps you clear your mind.

2. The right surroundings: There will definitely be temptations out there during the holidays. Surrounding yourself with people committed to a healthy lifestyle increases your chances of maintaining your weight loss.

Try this: Join a fitness class or program and meet other people with the same goals. You can motivate each other. This will not only get you through the holidays but also keep you on track going into the new year.

3. Remember to eat: It’s easy to lost track of time during the holidays which makes planning your meals important. If you’re hungry you will be less focused on your weight loss goals.

Try this: Remember to start your day with an energy packed breakfast. Plan for your busy days out by carrying a healthy snack with you. This will help keep you full until you can eat a healthy meal.

4. Remember to keep it movin’: Exercise is a must if you want to maintain your weight loss.

Try this: Do quick exercises that you can squeeze into your schedule throughout the day. Planning these times into your day is what will make this work. Make exercising a priority for you and if possible recruit a friend to join you.

5. Give yourself a treat: If you have a holiday favorite, don’t try to avoid it. The secret is to plan for these treats and eat them in moderation.

Try this: Take a smaller portion than you normally would and enjoy it without worry or guilt.

By following these five tips you can maintain your fat loss during the holidays.
